New rules in the Brazilian structured products market will boost local market for retail products, Risk.net reports. The new rules are likely to create new types of structured notes along with existing structures that are offered in swap or fund format.
Structured notes consist of derivatives and a fixed-income security. According to present rules, the two parts must be split for accounting and tax purposes, which can make it unattractive to issue structured notes in the country to Brazilian investors.
