Charter International has rejected Melrose’s £1.4 billion takeover proposal, Financial Times reports. Melrose had revised its offer to 840 pence a share for Charter on July 11.

The improved deal has been rejected as Charter believes the offer undervalues the company. On June 28, Melrose had offered 780 pence a share to buy the welding equipment and industrial compressor supplier.
